Tonya Laster

Her Life Journey Mrs. Tonya Denise Laster, 56, of New Castle, DE was born on October 15, 1967 to the late Joyce Ann Ringgold and Alton Moorefield.. She suddenly gained her wings the morning of May 20, 2024. Tonya received her early education at Wilmington High School Class of 1985. She worked in the medical field for over 30 years, with Cardiovascular medicine being her specialty. She was the true definition of a go-getter and Jackie of all trades. Many would say she was a serial entrepreneur! Tonya would turn any idea into a business. She was known for her famous Geneva’s subs and sub bowls, if you know you know! She had a love and passion for Body Image Beauty Lounge LLC that she was extremely proud about. Tonya was joined in holy matrimony on September 29, 2001, to Gregory R. Laster, Jr. The two loved to travel, spending time with family, friends and entertaining/hosting family gatherings. If you were asked to describe Tonya in a few words, many would say Tonya was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile would light up any room that she walked in. She had a loving motherly spirit and would go out of her way to give you her last if she had to. Tonya was also a faithful member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship (NCCF) church under the leadership of Bishop Ray and Pastor Donna Taylor. Tonya absolutely loved spending time with her beautiful daughters and grandchildren, and they loved spending time with her. There are so many great things to be said about Tonya; from young Tonya with the hula hoop, slay your hair Tonya, dancing Tonya with the one leg kick, high heel wearing Tonya and of course fashionable Tonya that had all the matching sets LOL. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories: her devoted husband of 22 years Gregory R. Laster Jr.; her beautiful daughters: Nyeesha (Dwayne) White, Sharlayia Ringgold, Gionna Laster, step-daughter Davine Laster; her beloved grandchildren: (her bestie) Damani White, (her manzie) Kianti Miller Jr., (her muff) Damyia White and (her kinlove) Kinlee Reams; her devoted and only sister Shamika (Wayne Sr.) Harris; her brother Michael Beal; her nephews Wayne Harris Jr. (who was more like a son), Justin and Alex Wright; Mother-in-love Sharon Laster; sister-in-law Trista Wright; 9 aunts and uncles: Deborah, Augusta, Sharon, Bernard, Keith, Kevin, Damon, Perry and Raymond; cousins that she helped raise: Shawana, Jamel and Jameel. She also loved her beloved dog Kash Laster dearly. A host of family and friends including her special friends Tonya Hocker, Belinda El. She is preceded in death by her son Gregory R. Laster III, mother Joyce Ann Ringgold and father Alton Moorefield, maternal grandmother Geneva Brady, maternal grandfather Perry Ringgold, uncle Melvin Ringgold, Father-in-love Gregory R. Laster Sr, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
