The Life of Theresa Skinner-Fields Theresa Marie Skinner-Fields, who was born on November 17, 1953, at the Philadelphia General Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed. Theresa received her education through the Philadelphia school district. She pursued higher education later in life and achieved a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a master's degree with honors in Organizational Development from Wilmington University on January 29, 2012. Her dedication and commitment to education led her to a fulfilling career at the Education and Research Department of Christiana Hospital, from which she retired in December 2018. Family and faith were at the core of Theresa's life. On September 23, 1972, she married Percival Thomas Fields Sr., and together they had their three children. Theresa was a devoted daughter to her late mother, Rosa Lee Lewis, and late father, George Rufus Skinner. She also cherished her siblings: her late brother, Reginald (Cora) Skinner of Bronx, NY, and three beloved sisters, Julie (Linwood) Drummond of New Castle, DE, Patricia (Fred) Mullen of Elizabeth City, NC, and Sharon McDougal of Raleigh, NC. Theresa's strong faith was evident through her involvement in various churches throughout her life. She was baptized on June 4, 1967, at the Evangelist Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA, and later became a dedicated member of Tasker Street Baptist Church, under the guidance of Reverend James A. Lovett III. After moving to New Castle, Delaware, Theresa found a new spiritual home with Redemption Global Church, where Pastor DaQuan Gibson led her, and she was cherished as part of the family. Theresa will be remembered for her warm, quick-witted, fun, and caring nature. She always had others on her mind and deeply loved her family. She was the cool G-Mom and much more stylish than her children! When she wasn't busy spreading love and kindness, she found joy in her personal hobbies. Theresa loved fishing, gardening, and had a true passion for cooking a wide variety of delicious foods. Her greatest pleasure was having her family gathered around while she prepared a feast. Many people enjoyed her culinary delights, which were truly unforgettable. Alongside her culinary talents, she had an unwavering appreciation for music and adored the sounds of Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson. Theresa is survived by her three children: Deborah (Andrew) Proctor of Salem, New Jersey; Celeste Fields of New Castle, DE; and Percival (Danah) Fields Jr, also known as Rakeem. She will forever be remembered by her sixteen grandchildren: Ashley, Alisha, Asia, Shamir, Rakeem (lovingly called Boonta), Andrew Jr., Rahmeer, Rasir, Rasheen, Rajea, Rameek, Christopher, Rafee, Kyleemah, Raliegh, and Rakee. She also leaves a lasting legacy with her five great-grandchildren: Ava, Alivia, Amad (who preceded her in death), Asiah, and baby Drew. Surviving her as well is her aunt, Margaret Riddick, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members who are deeply saddened by her passing. We would also like to remember a special friend who preceded Theresa in death. Stanley Robinson was a treasured companion in her life journey, providing support, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Their friendship was a source of strength and joy for Theresa, and their absence leaves a deep void in our hearts. Theresa Marie Fields will be forever remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she showered upon her family, extended family, friends and community. Although her absence will be deeply felt, her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
