Ruth Tilghman

Ruth Bernice Tilghman (Cooper) 96 years old of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2022. She was born in Johnsonville, South Carolina on August 8, 1926 to Norman and Hessie Mae Cooper. She received her early education in the public schools of South Carolina. She married Edward Eaddy together they had two children, Ludell Downing and Eddie Ruth Eaddy. In the late 50's she remarried Stanley Tilghman. She had the privlege of traveling and living in several different states. She worked in a clothing factory making dress garments and in housekeeping. In 1972, she decided to make Wilmington, Delaware her permanent home. During this time she joined Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she was active in different ministries including the pastor's aid, the nurses unit and the senior choir. She also was a proud member of the McCants Relations Group. She enjoyed fashion, making the best fried chicken and cake and talking on the phone with family members to reminisce about the old days. She loved the Lord and would often reference her favorite scripture Psalm 23. One of her favorite hymns was "I know I've been Changed". She also enjoyed interior decorating and making things look pretty. One of the things that were very important to her was hanging with one of her favorite aunt and uncle Addie and Sam McCants. She would always say Aunt Addie is her strength and inspiration. Ruth is survived by her brother Ricky Hall and sister in law Jeraldine Cooper, her two daughters Ludell Downing and Eddie Ruth Eaddy, her eight grandchildren, Crystal McWilliams (Lenny), Thomas Eaddy, Tracy Gray-Napier (Kevin), Freddie Gray, Donna Taylor (Ray), Marcus Eaddy, Kerry Gray (Marjon) and Melvin Eaddy (Sherinw) and 28 great-grandchildren, 39 great great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren. Hose of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents Norman and Hessie Mae Cooper, her sister Ruby Young and her brother Willie Cooper, Samuel Cooper, Norman Cooper , Daniel Cooper, Jerome Mitchell and her grandson and great grandson Kevin Eaddy and Malik Eaddy.
