Marion Evans

Marion L Evans of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully at home on Monday March 16, 202) at the age of 87, with her children at her side. Marion was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to Moorman and Lucille Woody. She received her early education in Bluefield West Virginia. She moved to Wilmington De with her family during the summer of her senior year in high school. She graduated from Howard High School in Wilmington, DE. Years later she took accredited classes at Delaware Technical and Community College and at the University of Delaware. After working several dedicated years of service, she discovered her passion for working with youths of all ages. She began her professional career as a Youth Counselor at Woods Haven School for delinquent girls. In later years she was the Secretary/Bookkeeper at St Michael’s Day Nursery in Wilmington De. Where the highlight of her day was visiting all of the sweet babies from 6 weeks to 5years of age. Her career ended after working at Her Alma Marta Howard Career Center as a teacher for Clothing Management. Her years of service in the Delaware School System concluded after receiving diagnosis of cancer. From Marion’s first marriage three children were born. Together they raised Robin, Regina, Malcolm and Connie. Marion married the love of her life James H Evans Jr. in 1983. They shared thirty-one years of love, affection and devotion. They share quite a few hobbies. If was such a surprise to learn that mom had learned to fish (even wearing All white) and go crabbing both on a boat and on land. She was always willing to try a new adventure. They both shared their love of music going to concerts and Jazz festivals both nest and far. Mom loved all genres of music. She had a substantial amount of favorite artist. But in her later years she developed a special interest in Elton John. She subscribed to all of his music however, for the past few years she only listened to 1 cd on side 1. She listened to this cd every night when she went to bed. Mom loved all aspects of life. She mostly loved the time she spent with her family. Her children, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews. More joyful times spent with her 5 grandchildren IVOREE, Amber, Jade, Jordan and Maya and her 4 great grandchildren Taylor, Onyx, Obsidian and Madison. Marion also enjoyed sewing. Creating and making her window treatments. She also did alterations for others including Ethel DuPont. Mom had a love for life and she demonstrated that every day. She was blessed and highly favored. She was given strength and courage to walk tall and strong in difficult times. She was stylish, classy and a sophisticated lady. She taught her children how to love and be kind and respectful to others. She was liked and well respected by all people who crossed paths with her. She had a great outlook on life and loved to talk and share her West Virginia stories and funny expressions. She never met a stranger. Marion L Evans, mom is dearly loved by her family. She has left a mark that will not be forgotten. She was the last and oldest member of her family. She leaves to cherish and preserve her legacy Robin, Regina, Malcolm and Connie and five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; as well as host of family and friends. Marion was preceded in death by her husband James H Evans, parents Moorman and Lucille Woody and her sisters Joyce Land, Joquetta Seymour and Blonzetta Hutchenson.
