Ivan Pierce Goldsberry Sr

Ivan Pierce Goldsberry, Sr. affectionately known as “Ike” or “Goldy” was born May 13, 1959 to the late William R. and Thelma L. (Kelley) Goldsberry in Wilmington, DE. Ivan departed this live on Monday, November 26, 2018 at his home. Ivan graduated from Wilmington High School and continued his education by taking business classes at Delaware Technical Community College. For 40 years, Ivan worked as a Stevedore at the International Longshoreman docks in Wilmington and Philadelphia. Ivan also worked for General Motors and in various capacities for the New Castle County Government. Ivan married the love of his life, Shirley “Tee” (Lowry) Goldsberry, and from this union, Ivanna and Ivan, Jr. were born. Ivan Sr. was an active member of Sharon Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church where he served the Lord as a Deacon. Ivan was an active participant in the Personal Ministries, Evangelism Ministries, LoveHeals Ministry, Publishing Ministries, and was an enthusiastic participant of the Sabbath school. Ivan loved Sharon Temple SDA and wanted to live right according to God’s word and law. Ivan was known to support all ministries in any capacity where needed. Ivan enjoyed time with his family and friends where he often made impromptu visits. If any life issues arose in conversation, be prepared to kick back and enjoy a lengthy and passionate discussion. He enjoyed cars, swimming, karate, watching cowboy westerns and various sport shows like boxing, and MMA. Ivan loved football and was a lifelong Raider’s fan. Ivan also loved music, you could find him singing at the top of his lungs and often off key. He could tell you the names and artists of all the “oldies but goodies”. Ivan was preceded in death by his brothers William Goldsberry, John Henry Goldsberry, Hubert Goldsberry, Charles Goldsberry and Clyde Goldsberry and sisters, Jean Goldsberry and Mamie Tate. He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Shirley Goldsberry, daughter Ivanna Goldsberry and son Ivan Goldsberry, Jr., Sisters Joyce Daniel and Lisa Porter. Mother-in-law Ruby Govens, four (4) brothers-in-law, six (6) sisters-in-law, God son William Goldsberry III and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We thought of you in love today, but it is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that, too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have is memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.
