Francine L Weeks

Francine Weeks (Lucky), born on September 3, 1948 to the late Geneva Thompson and James Vaughn in Sumter, South Carolina entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Francine received much of her early education from the Sumter County School District prior to her graduation from Morris College, also located in Sumter, SC. In her early adult years, Francine had different occupations including being a clerk at her neighborhood corner store and as an Administrative Assistant at her local television station, but her first love of education is where she made her mark. Upon moving to Wilmington, Delaware in the early 1980's, she was employed by St. Michael's Day Nursery where she was a respected Educator that assisted all of the students and parents that she came in contact with. She even offered before and after care for some of her students whose parents work schedules did not meet the hours of the nursery. Prior to her retirement, she was also employed by the State of Delaware as an Educator at the Ferris School, helping young people transition back into society after unlawful encounters. Francine also worked as an Art Consultant for Personal Preference Inc. where she would host "parties" to display artwork for purchase in people's homes. Her winning personality made her very successful in this business and she was rewarded with all-expenses paid trips every summer. She was able to travel to many beautiful places including England, Italy, and Mexico just to name a few. However, Francine's first love was the beach. She enjoyed planning family trips to Myrtle Beach every year. Sometimes she would sit for hours on the balcony and just watch and listen to the waves of the ocean. That was her peace. Francine absolutely adored her grandchildren. She had to make sure they were always taken care of whether it was back to school time, Christmas time, or birthdays. She would spend countless hours online shopping for them and then text her own children to show off what she bought and boast about how great of a deal she got. She always put their needs before her own, even as she was approaching the end of her time with us. Francine was one of the most selfless people ever. Most would agree that she would sacrifice her own wellbeing to ensure others were happy and content and she left a legacy that will be celebrated by her family for generations to come. Francine was preceded in death by two siblings, Annie Mae Walker and Calvin Lucky. She leaves an extensive list of family and friends to cherish her memory, including her children: Adrian Weeks and Akia Weeks, grandchildren: Elijah, Ja'La, Zayn, and Arden, great-granddaughter: Na'La, sister: Sara Elizabeth Carter, brother: Michael Lucky, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lord Jesus Christ, you are the name above every other name. As we mourn the passing of our mother, may we find safety and comfort in your name. May your voice soothe our pain and strengthen us in our weakness. May your promises provide hope in our distress and stability in our confusion.
