Angelic D Thornton-Allen

Angelic D, Thornton-Allen, daughter of Betty Ann Thornton and the late Randolph Hansely, was born on September 24, 1977, in Wilmington Delaware. She transitioned this life peacefully at Cozier Hospital on July 11, 2023, after a courageous battle. Angelic, affectionately known as Angie or Ang to many family members and friends. Angie received her early education in public schools of Wilmington Delaware and graduated from Newark High School. She also attended Delaware Technical Community College to pursue nursing, until her health started declining. Angie was employed at Discover Card. She was faithful to her work, where she enjoyed her colleagues and the environment. She also performed various functions while working with several other organizations, in doing so she assisted to the best of her ability in the development of her community. During her youthful life, Angie met and fell in love with Jason Allen, which lasted for almost thirty years. Angie and Jason met in 1996 and got married the following year August 1997, and their first child a son Shy-Ayre was born. After that son, Angie demonstrated her deep commitment to the development of herself in general and family in particular. She loved children and along with Jason were blessed with three more sons, Sa-Kye, Sa-Mor, and Sha-Morley. Angie was not just a wife and a mother but a true humanitarian who did not hesitate to lend her support to any issue or problem that was to be solved. A soft spoken person, you could always rely on her to add her voice to any meaningful discussion. Smart, intelligent and thorough are some of the words that accurately describe the person she was. Her love for God(Jehovah) was ever present and it is comforting to know that she did not allow vanity to destroy her character. Throughout her life she displayed a sincere love for the unification of families. You could always rely on her to be at family parties, thanksgivings, re-unions, barbecues, and especially cooking Sunday dinner with her sons.(Angie was the life of the party; she would walk in the room and light it up with her smile). She also love traveling, no distance was too far or hard to reach, she would try along with some assistance. On the few occasions when she did not get to attend she was quick to let you know how sorry she was. A truly blessed soul is how she must be described, that must be respected and honored for living a very successful life. Angie fought many battles and had many victories and it is worth noting that a lot of these battles were not for herself but for others. She certainly knew what offering herself as a living sacrifice meant. The last battle fought by Angie was by her physical health and although it was a battle lost let us be comforted by the fact that her spiritual soul was victorious to her family, relatives, and many friends while we all mourn her passing. let us remember that Angie is a child of God, God loaned her to us for forty five years and for this we are very thankful. We all wish that she would stay with us and talk to us and laugh with us, but the Lord knows better for her to be with him and so it was. Angie was preceded in death by her father Randolph. Angie leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband Jason, sons Shy-Ayre(Jasmine), Sa-Kye, Sa-Mor, Sha-Morley, daughters Anika, Shantelle(Patrick), Suan, Sabryna, Shayla, Shy-Ann, and Shaniya; seven grandchildren, mother Betty Ann, Grandmother Mary T, siblings; Randy, Wayne, Rahsheeda(Pensacola), Rahseena, Verna, Conway(Maria), Joanne, Aunts, Uncles. Devoted aunt Elizabeth Cornish, Catherine Bullock, and uncle Thomas Cornish(Stephanie), devoted cousin Nacole Gardner(Nikki) host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Christiana Care and Crozier Hospital. There are no tears in heaven nor grief of any kind; I leave this final tear drop to those I've left behind. Though absent from the body, I'm present with the Lord, joy of my salvation is now my eternal reward. May her soul continue to live in happiness and peace with God has her guide and God as her high priest. AMEN
