March 26, 1937 - March 9, 2020
Gloria Jean Thompson was born in Thomaston, Georgia on March 26, 1937. Gloria was born to the late Jessie and Jimmie Lou Ray. Gloria was one of nineteen siblings survived by Sandra Wonnum and Ruth Ray; preceded in death by Lois Servant and Frank Ray and many others. Gloria received her education from Druke High School. Several years later Gloria met a gentlemen by the name of James Elton Thompson, not long after James asked Gloria's parents for her hand in marriage. From their union they were blessed with three loving children Glenis Thompson Sr., Danny Thompson Sr., and Dawanna Thompson Paul. They raised as their own, Sabrina Ray, Andre' Wonnum, Frederick Wonnum, and Johnathan Wonnum. In later years Gloria relocated to Glassboro, New Jersey where she worked at the local hospital. Gloria then moved to Wilmington, Delaware where she continued to be a fourth generation member of Triumph Church. There she was a songstress and played the piano for 47 years. Gloria loved praising and worshiping the Lord. Those left to continue her legacy and cherish her memories are three children, Glenis Sr., Danny Sr., and Dawanna; raising as her own Sabrina, Andre, Frederick and Jonathan; her grandchildren, Alexis, Dannaye, Danny Jr., Tasheema, Danijha, Zecqueous, Gloria, Dereon, Messiah, Glenis Jr., Renesha, Shandtia, Brendan, Jayonna, James, Joshua, Syesha, Jameeka, Jalena, Jimesha, and Tron; sisters, Sandra, Ruth; 2 daughters-in-law, Tammi and Rebecca; one son-in-law, James; and a village of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Dannaye Rollins-Anderson, Tron and Lauren Green, Jimesha Ray-Amedee with love from the family.
