Edward Bolden Sr

July 14, 1943 - February 22, 2022

Edward Bolden was the fifth child born to the late Jake and Florence Bolden on July 14, 1943 in Beaufort South Carolina. Edward relocated to Philadelphia at an early age. He was educated in the Philadelphia School System and graduated from the Edward.W.Bok Technical High School. He worked at Miss Heavalo’s and The Hawthorne Center and then moved on to working at James Apprendi until 1972. He then went on to work for The City of Philadelphia where he was employed for 27 years. After retiring from the city, he worked for DLC Transportation until his death. Edward met his wife Velveeta at James Apprendi in 1963. The two were married on October 6, 1973. To this union one child was born, Edward Bolden Jr on December 29,1976. Edward was proceeded in death by his siblings, Samuel Bolden, James Williams, Jake Bolden and Jeanette Ginyard. And his grandson Kellen Bolden. Edward was baptized by Reverend J.W Anthony. He joined Rising Sun Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Neal at an early age. He rejoined Rising Sun under the leadership of Revered Harry E. Bronson in 1978. He served over the years as a trustee and on the Male Chorus and the Mass Choir. Edward was a member of Phoenix Lodge #3. Edward leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Velveeta Bolden. Sons Edwin (Keith) Bolden (Clara), Jeffery Bolden and David Bolden from Atlanta Georgia. Edward Bolden Jr (Shymia). Grandsons Marcus, Jordan, and Isaiah Bolden. Granddaughters Taylor, Bianca, Zamiya, and Skylar Bolden. Two sisters Delores Cave and Beatrice Santiago. One Godson Khalif and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special friends Ms Patti Alston and Kenny Wilkerson. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. A common theme that prevailed in every aspect of his life were God, honesty, tenacity, and love for family and authentic friends. - A legacy that will never die.
