Veronica Lemon

Veronica Roberta Lemon age 65 of Wilmington, Delaware left this earthly realm on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in the Christiana Care Wilmington Campus Hospital. She was the fourth child of her parents, the late John Robert and Earline Lemon. She was also predeceased by her brother John R. Lemon, Jr. She was a member of Harrison Memorial Baptist Church which built her foundation for the love and personal relationship she had with God. Ronnie as she was lovingly called lived a fulfilling life with a strong commitment to family and friends. After graduating in 1977 from Wilmington High School, she obtained employment with St. Michael's Day Care. From there she excelled in her passion for the development of all children. Child development was Ronnie's passion. She loved children. Ronnie was also a graduate of Gordon Phillips Cosmetology School in Philadelphia, PA. There she utilized her skills in that profession. After a few years, realizing that was not her passion. She became an apprentice butcher for Super Fresh Supermarket for many years in the New Castle and Dover stores. Discovering her passion for cooking, she became employed at Graterford Prison in Philadelphia, PA where she enjoyed managing and preparing meals for hundreds of men and staff employees. Learning to use her culinary skills on a very large scale, Ronnie's passion for cooking excelled. There was no greater joy than Ronnie bringing her family together to savor her culinary creations. She could be found watching your reaction with anticipation of expression while savoring the morsel she offered. How can we speak of food without mentioning her Award-Winning Blue Ribbon for her Tuna Casserole that she critiqued so many times over the years. Ronnie was selfless when it came to family and friends. She was kind, caring and generous, always wanting to help even when her health began to fail. She was also armed with a quick wit. Ronnie leaves to cherish her precious memories: 2 sisters Deborah and Linda Lemon; 2 brothers Kenneth and Carl Shabazz (Gina); her sister/friend of 50 years Alycia "Cookie" Benson; 4 nephews Jermaine Lemon (Shayne), John R. Lemon III (MiGan), Darius Lemon (Raelynn) and Ryan Lemon; Great nieces and nephews; Atiya, Tamera, Imani, Taylor, Kennedy, Scott, Skylar, Roman, MyAsia; 2 Godchildren, Alycia Shavon & Jerome Avon Benson, Jr.; 2 Bonus daughters, lamica & Kimberly and their father Kim Jackson; Cousins too many to name but will mention, Carole Hoytmeyer; Many, many friends mentioning Shelley Davis (Sister in-law), Kisha Donaldson, and Gloria "Renee" Foreman of Philadelphia, PA. Life sometimes humbles us and lets us know we are only human. We are fragile temporary and dauntless. Ronnie fought a good fight now she can rest in perfect peace!!
