Ruth Christine McCall-Kelly

Ruth Christine McCall-Kelly Called Chrissy in her youth. Ruth Christine Wheeler was born on 01/ 14/ 1931 to Lily Mae Wheeler and Oscar Wheeler, in Port Huron Michigan. She was the fourth of thirteen children. Ruth was educated in the Port Huron public educational system. Married early in life, she birthed three daughters, Gayle, Rhonda and Bobbi in her hometown in Michigan. Searching for better opportunities, she moved to West Philadelphia Pennsylvania in the early 1950s, where she remarried, and birthed her only son, Alan. She worked in the garment industry and raised her four children. She persevered and obtained her high school diploma from the Benjamin Franklin Evening School program in Philadelphia in 1966, graduating the same year as her first child. Ruth worked in the Lutheran Church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. Receiving the honor of being inducted into the Chapel of the four Chaplains. She went on to obtain an Associate Degree in early childhood education from Temple University and completed an internship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Ruth moved to Darby Township, Delaware County in the late 1970's. Where she became very politically active in the community through a blue ribbon panel. Her spiritual journey included active participation in Immanuel Lutheran Church, First African Baptist Church and New Covenant Church. Ruth opened her heart and her home to many children, through foster parenting and eventually establishing a home based daycare. Upon her retirement, she transitioned the daycare to First AME Church as Kiddy Kare Kingdom where she further influenced the lives of the community's children. Ruth also enjoyed the sisterhood of the Red Hat Society. Ruth was blessed to live her dream of travel, visiting South Africa, Israel, Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Panama and eventually becoming a snowbird resident of Florida. Parents preceded her in death: Oscar S. Wheeler, Sr., Lillie Mae Wheeler. Siblings: Oscar Wheeler Jr., H. Ophelia Briggs, Vivian Clarke, Sargent Robert Wheeler, Esther West and Kenneth Wheeler. Grandsons: Kevin Woodley and Ahlan McCall Surviving is a brother Douglas (Geraldine) Wheeler of Summerfield, FI. sisters: Ella Wheeler, Philadelphia, Rafiah Muhammad, Detroit, MI, Lillian (Gerald) Prophet, Saginaw, MI, Fredericka (Nathanial) Vincent and Sharon Howell, Charlotte, NC Children: Gayle Simmons, Rhonda Saunders, Bobbi Urbannavage (Paul), Alan McCall (Nia) all of Sharon Hill, PA. Longtime friend and partner Thomas Brown Grandchildren: Dionne Williams (Herbert), Christopher Bailey (Amy), Madina Bonaparte (Kasim) Quiana Woodley, Salimah McCall, Adam McCall, Sharvon Hales (Said), Anwar McCall, Alan McCall Jr. Great Grandchildren, Antwann Woodley (Frances), Kaiya Bonaparte, Nashira McCall, Alex Bailey Elizabeth Bailey, Malik Williams, Mecca Bonaparte, Kayla McCall, Kevin Bailey, Salim McCall, Jeremiah Williams, Adam McCall Jr. Ahlana McCall, Great Great Granddaughter Halia Woodley. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews and villagers.
