Roslyn Joyner

Rozlyn Joyner, affectionately known as Rozie, daughter of the late Chauncey Rider, Sr. and Helen Rider was born on May 26, 1945 in Wilmington, Delaware. She departed this life on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Rozie received her education in the Wilmington Public Schools, attending Elbert Elementary, Bancroft Jr. High and Howard High School She received her diploma from James Groves Night School. Rozie worked a few jobs prior to landing a job as a teacher's aide in the Brandywine School District. She worked with special needs children working a Carcroft Elementary, Forwood and Pleasant Hill Middle School. The last school she worked in her job capacity was at Glasgow High in the Christiana School District where she took notes for two handi-capped teenagers who eventually went to college. She was loved by all her students. Roslyn was a member at Mt. Joy United Methodist Church where she once led Women's Day, after following in her sister Doris Trader's footsteps who led Women's Day the year before. On December 16, 1972 after a long close special courtship she married Brady F. Joyner, Jr. her lover, best friend, her everything. From this union were two children, Bryon K. Joyner and Craig D. Joyner. Rozie loved listening to Doo Wop and Rhythm & Blues, dancing, taking daily rides, shopping for clothes, watching and supervising her husband doing yard work and gardening, communicating with people especially children, taking long walks and talking about her family, friends and neighbors. Rozie was preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey Rider, Sr. and Helen Rides; her sisters Doris Trader and Greta Robinson; and brothers Chauncey Rider and Donald Harrison. Rozie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Brady F. Joyner, Jr; sons, Bryon K. Joyner and Craig D. Joyner; seven stepchildren, Alisha Joyner Seth, Brady Shawn Joyner, Inita Joyner, Jerome Joyner, Chandra Nelson, Tanya Brock and Randy Joyner; four sisters, Margaret Bell, Barbara Powell, Jacqueline Rider, and Sheila Rider; one God Daughter, Glynis Deedon; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, daughters and son in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
