Martinez Hall

Martinez Cornelious Hall eldest son of Lieutenant Cornelious Hall and Deaconess Mattie B. Hall was born January 16, 1951 in Washington DC. Martinez transitioned to be with his Creator (God), on September 2, 2023, with his loving wife of 37 years Brenda, by his side. Martinez (Mr. Martinez, Marty, MC) as he was affectionately known, graduated from Washington Lee High School in Arlington VA. Marty was Athletically inclined with a zeal for Track & Football, receiving many awards and recognition’s for his outstanding talent and skills. After High School Marty enlisted in the United States Marine Corp (1970-74) as a Physical Fitness Instructor, then promoted to Drill Sargent. After completing his tour of duties with the Marines, Marty with his servitude spirit joined the United States Army as an Administrative Specialist, then promoted to Air Craft Refueling Specialist touring many Continents and Countries, ie…Japan, Korea, Germany & Vietnam to name a few. Well, Marty still had a passion to serve again, this time joining the United States National Guard Reserves. September 5, 1987 Martinez married his loving wife Brenda, the two decided to move the family close to the base, making their home in New Castle, De. Later Martinez and family joined Alpha Baptist Church in Belvedere, De under the pastorate of Rev. Darryl Freeman. Once the family moved to their home in New Castle, Marty and family moved their membership to the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Barron Sherrer. Martinez joined the Male Chorus, a couple of weeks later he was singing on the senior choir, 2 weeks later he was singing on the children’s choir, he just loved to sing to the Glory of God! He loved the hymns of the church namely “ I will Trust in the Lord” & “Amazing Grace” Marty was also a member of The Senior Warriors for Christ Ministries. MC was employed with King Limousine Co. for several years, but his gratitude came when he became employed with the State of Delaware as a Bus Driver with The Colonial School District’s for special needs children. He had great compassion and loved the children so much, he made sure they were always safe and handled with great care, occasionally bring them goody bags, until he retired. Martinez, enjoyed being around people, telling jokes, always making sure that everyone is alright, He really loved interacting with those that had served in the Military. August 26, 2023 Martinez was given personal accolades and was the recipient of The Blanket of Honor for his hard work and dedication & bravery during the Vietnam Era. Marty served as a Amtraker, which is amphibious operator, responsible for ferrying his fellow Marines and their cargo into harm’s way from ship to shore. There are only 3 % of Marine Left, that have operated this assault vehicle. Although Marty health was beginning to fail, his family and friends were able to witness his last loving salute.. and hear him say “Old soldiers Never die, they just fade Away”! 2nd Timothy4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his son Mazonian Hall, a sister Phyllis Hall, 2 brothers Mazonian Hall, Maurice Hall He leaves to cherish his memories wife Brenda Hall, 3 sons, Joseph Williams ( VA), Sheldon Hall -Thomas(GA) Corey Hall (CA) 2 sister’s Youlonda Hall-McCoy (NC) Ninetta Hall-Ford (VA) Brother in Law Michael Ford, Samuel Thomas ( Marilyn) (GA) Sister in law Marilynn Thomas, (NJ) Paternal Uncle Waldo(Dorothy) Smith (VA) Many Niece's, Nephews, Cousins and Great Friends.
