Jesmin Hewitt

Jesmin Esmilda Hewitt aka “Esmine/Jazzy/Esmie” was born on June 11, 1949 in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica to Violet Williams and Herman Hewitt. She has one maternal sister and two paternal brothers. She’s the eldest child to both her mother and father. Jesmin graduated from Black River Secondary School and worked for many years in Jamaica before emigrating to the United State at the age of 42. Jesmin emigrated to Poughkeepsie, New York in the United State of America in 1991 where she resided for several years before relocating to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she resides for a year. Jesmin returned to Poughkeepsie, New York part time while working a live-in job in Wilmington, DE for many years. Jesmin was so dedicated to her work and family life. For many years, on her time off from work once a month, she would commute to and from New York and Delaware so she could spend time with her two daughters Bobbette and Andrea and her three grandsons Anthony, David and Dashon. Eventually, Jesmin settled in New Castle, Delaware where she resided for over two decades. Jesmin worked as Home Health Aide, a live-in job taking care of elderly gentlemen for many years until his passing. She went back to school and acquired her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Jesmin worked for many years at Milton Hattie Kutz Home until her retirement several years ago. Jesmin was always a very kind, loving and giving person. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for many years and attended church regularly. Over the years, she participated in many church activities and volunteered her time when she could. She had an infectious smile and was a very kind and compassionate person. She enjoyed vacationing with family, cruising, social events with friends and family, she loved cooking and baking. Her greatest joy is inviting family and friends over to her house to taste her delicious foods. Most of the time Jesmin would think about others before she thinks about herself. She would give you her last plate of food or the shirt off her back if you needed it. Jesmin was predeceased by both her parents Violet Williams and Herman Hewitt. Her maternal and paternal grandparents. Her daughters Jacqueline Francis and Cassandra Harvey. Jesmin is survived by her son Radcliffe Harvey, her daughters: Bobbette Pryce, Andrea Baxter, Marcia Flakes, Yvonne Martin, and Carolyn Harvey. Her sister Pauline Rowe and her two brothers: McDanny Hewitt and Melvin Hewitt. Her uncle Clovis Williams. Twenty Four Grandchildren, Thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
