Gloria Jean Carson

Gloria Jean Carson, daughter of the late Clara (Watson) Carson and Robert T. Carson, Sr was born June 26, 1950 in Wilmington, DE. On Friday, January 5th, 2024 she transitioned from labor to rest while surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her brothers James Watson and Robert T. Carson, Jr., several aunts and uncles. Gloria grew up on the Eastside and was educated in the public schools of Wilmington, DE.; Stubbs, Bancroft and Howard High School. She began her career in the banking industry and moved to a career in Insurance working at AIG/Farmers, where she retired. After retirement, she decided to go back to work at and was employed by Amazon. Affectionately known as "Mom" to close friends, "Sissy" and "Mom Joe", she was vibrant, precious and adorable woman with an enormous heart of Gold. Her friendship was loving and caring. She was quick to motivate, to support, to encourage and do whatever she could for others. Gloria was so proud of her son, grandsons, and granddaughters achievements and was so excited when she was blessed with a great grandson and great granddaughter. She had an extended family who she graciously invited to her family. Early on Gloria became interest in playing tennis. She loved cooking and entertaining, playing bingo, going to the Casino and traveling. She had so many request for the "tasty" cakes she baked. She was an avid "Steelers" fan and was a member of the "Sisters of Soul". At one time she sang in the Lawson Chorus at Scott A.M.E. Zion Church. Gloria was truly an amazing and best friend for almost 60 years to Joyce Lawson, Sandra Taylor and Gwendolyn Crumpler Byrd. She was a beacon of light to everyone she touched and will be missed dearly by everyone as well as her "treasured" extended family and other friends. Gloria leave her legacy of love to her children: Joseph Carson (TaShomba), Aaron Gosa, Robin Gosa, Serena Ruffin, Michael Pinkett and John "JJ" Taylor. Grandchildren; Shanieka, Kenny, Larry (Diamond), Kennesha, Jaaron (Imani) Jamaur and Ryan, Jr. Great-grand children, Leniyah, Donnell, Arie, Travis, Halyn, London, Paris, Amir, Keni, Kabria, Kabira and Alani. God Children: Tameeka, Rochelle and her Eastside Godsons, 2 nephews and 2 nieces and devoted niece Janine Haggard; Special families; Watson, Lawson, Puckham, Gosa, Spicer, Merrell, Lafate, Thomas, Stewart, Williams, Curtis, Fields, Cassidy, Waterman, Chapman, Price, Sylvester and Barnhart
