Deacon Garry A Wilson

Deacon Garry Asbury Wilson was born in Kent County Maryland, on September 16,1952 to Aldotha C. Wilson and Hilda V. Wilson. This world lost a Gentle Giant when God called his son home on May 2, 2023. He was educated in the Kent County Public School System and graduated from the first graduating class of Chestertown High School in Chestertown Maryland in 1971. After graduating he was employed by varies companies, until he become employed for the Kent County Public School System as a Head Janitorial Worker at Galena Middle School in Galena Md. He loved his job, because he loved being a positive influence in the lives of young people. So much so that he coached his community church youth boys' basketball team, which became champions. He didn’t stop there, when he built his home, instead of using his garage for his car, he made it out of game room, for the children in the community, to come play pool, pinball games, and have snacks. He was a member of the Coleman Social Club in his Community. He affectionally and lovingly was hands on in raising his three daughter/nieces, and son/nephew, he’d move heaven and earth to assure they had everything they needed, as he would for anyone. Deacon Garry moved to Delaware in the late 1980’s after meeting the Love of his Life Vicky, on September 3,1989 they became husband and wife. They continue raising her children together as one. Deacon Garry continued working in the Custodial Field for at Wilmington Hospital and Delaware University, and the Christiana Skating Center upon retiring he became a driver for youth program for behavioral challenged children. That was not the end, not wanting to just retire he started his own cleaning business V and G Cleaning, if you knew him that wasn't enough. He became New Castle Avenue’s Fish Man, cooking Fried Fish in the middle of the field, every Friday, when able. Deacon Garry joined his hometown a church Union United Methodist Church in Coleman Corner, Md. He was a lifetime member of the Coleman Gospel Singer, which he was the President of. After moving to Delaware in look for church home and found, New Calvary Baptist Church. Deacon Garry was, a Godly Man, a willing servant for God. Under the guidance of Bishop Vincent P. Oliver whom he loved and felt that he was the best Pastor on Earth, was overly happy in his life's ministry. He earned an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from the New Calvary School of Ministry in 2012. He Loved his Lord and was a willing and faithful servant. Deacon Garry held numerous positions at NCBC, Co-Chair of the Deacon Ministry, President of the Pastor’s Aid, Church Custodian, member of the Men’s Ministry, Culinary Ministry, Males Chorus, Usher Ministry, and former member of the Bridge of Hope Food Ministry. He worked tirelessly on NCBC Men’s Fashion Show and Men’s Tailgate Fellowship. Deacon Garry was known by many and loved by all who came in his presence, he was truly A Man after God’s heart and his walk-in life demonstrated it. He lived his life by the words the song he would sing in church. “IT'S BEEN WORTH IT ALL” In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy ‘Dot” Wilson and Sydney Caulk, his brothers Wilbert Wilson, Allen Wilson, Paul Wilson, and Larry Wilson. His nephews Bryant Wilson and Arthur Green Jr. And his Beloved Children Dogs, Parker and Mattison Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Victoria D. Wilson, three devoted daughter/nieces, Pastor Donna Wilson, ArLita Barbour( Teakira), and Deona Wilson and one son nephew Dwight Clayton (Joan). Children Barbara Hubbard (Leroy), Eugene Butler, Gwen Butler, Robert Butler (Delores), Charles Walter (Vickie), GeneGene Butler (Tieisha), and Troy Pritchett (Sabrina). Six Grandchildren Tikish Williams (Anthony), Jackee Villanueva (Marcos), Robert White( Tayna), Darnice Butler( Jarode), Maurice Butler, Leeza Butler, Faithe Brown and Vivian Lister, 11 Great Grandchildren, The Man Marcel Williams. One Sister Lita Green (Arthur), Brothers James Little (Faye), Howard Garrison, Alexander Brown (Elenora), Jeff Pressey (Rev. Zina), and Dwight Fryer (Thomasina), Two Sister in Laws, Dorothy Wilson and Ellen Wilson Five nephews Maynard Caulk, Geary Caulk, Wilbert Wilson (Doretha), and Eric Wilson, one niece LaShay Kennard, 9 Great Nephews, 6 Great Nieces, One Uncle Claude Gilbert (Marjorie) ,Homeboys Sheldon Phiilips and Gregory Brooks, Spiritual Sisters Rev. Burnadette Kornegay and Maggie Jones, His New Calvary Baptist Church Family, and a Host of Cousins and Friends.
