Evelyn Rosetta Walley

Evelyn Rosetta Walley, best known as “Ebb”, was born on November 26, 1939 in Iron Hill, Delaware to the late Maynard Sr. and Mary Alverta Earl. She transitioned from this earth to glory on August 25, 2023 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. With her granddaughter Tanita Walley and her family at her side. She received her early education in the public schools of Iron Hill, Delaware and attended Louis L Redding high school in Middletown, Delaware. She later attended Wilmington College and Delaware Technical Community College. Evelyn was employed by the state of Delaware, where she worked in multiple school districts. She retired after over 40 years of dedicated service. Evelyn was united in holy matrimony to the late Reverend Joseph L. Walley. She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Wilmington Delaware since 1990. She was proud to serve as an usher and took the notes for the meetings for many years. Evelyn loved spending her time in the kitchen cooking numerous meals, gardening, traveling, and attending church functions. She was a kind and loving person who would feed anyone who came into her house. Her signature dishes were chicken and dumplings and making donuts. Her traveling adventures were frequent with her road partner granddaughter, Janeah Walley. She was never more than a phone call away and was the glue to her family. Her favorite scripture was Psalms, 23. Evelyn will be remembered by her pleasant smile, and the way she cared for everyone. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard Senior and Mary Alverta Earl, grandson Hasan Mateen Jr., son-in-law Rudolph Butler, brothers Maynard Earl Jr., Melvin Earl, Thomas Earl, sisters Emma Chandler, Dorothy Grinnage, Gladys Ray and Sarah Hubbard. Evelyn will be deeply missed. She leaves to treasure her memories her six children: Leon Earl (Dolly), Kathy Earl, Reverend Clifford Walley-Earl, Zelda Walley, Justina Walley-Mateen (Hasan) and Michael Walley. She also leaves behind her brother William Earl (Shirley). She has nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
