Delores E Hamilton

Delores Elizabeth Hamilton was born June 29, 1950 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Anna and Sylvester Hamilton Sr. Delores departed this life Saturday February 29, 2020. Delores attended and graduated from the Wilmington Public school system. Later in life she worked for many years with the 1212 Recover Program. A program which was instrumental in getting her own life back on track. Delores developed many friendships with people who encouraged and influenced her life over the years. People like Elder Tyrone Johnson who at times would pay her salary out of his own pocket. Denise and Greg Poindexter and Margaret Miller were close friends but treated her like family. Denise Poindexter aka Poindexter as Delores affectionately called her were best of friends and loved each other dearly. Delores was a kind hearted person who would do anything for you. She loved to make people laugh and playing cards; her favorite card game was spades. Delores loved and worshiped her only son Curtis Hamilton. Curtis remembers his mom fondly he remembers her always saying “son be nice and God always can fix your problems”. Curtis is going to miss his mom dearly. Delores spent a lot of her time with two of her favorite nieces Stephanie Ford and Michelle Williams. They both took her shopping and shared their homes and family with her. Delores leaves to cherish her memories her son Curtis L. Hamilton, grandson DaQuon Hamilton Woodard (Daewanna) great-grandson Sa’eed Woodard, great-granddaughter Zaniyah Green, Brother Kevin R. Hamilton, great aunt Anna Walker and husband Sylvester Walker of Baltimore MD. She was preceded in death by her sibling’s sisters: Mamie R. Ford, Betty Ann Rivers, brothers; Sylvester Hamilton, Jr. Robert F. Hamilton, Charles Hamilton, Jerome Hamilton, James Hamilton and Larry Hamilton. The family would also like to acknowledge people and Agencies that helped Delores on her journey: Stephanie Church, Elder Tyrone Johnson, Edwina Bell, Mary Pierre, Gregory Lawson, Darla Christine Hines, Denise Poindexter, Greg Poindexter, and Margaret Miller, Resources for Human Development, Horizon House, Connection Services, and Christiana Care Health Services.
